With over ten million followers worldwide and 1.2 million newsletter subscribers, Mark Manson is one of the largest and most respected personal development brands in the world. We deliver evidence-backed, scientifically validated life advice to tens of millions of people each month. We are also in the early stages of building out a media network to scale content beyond the Mark Manson brand and IP.
WHAT WE NEED
Someone who owns the plumbing of our email business. We send millions of emails each week, and email is one of the most valuable channels we have — which means the automations, segmentation, deliverability, and data behind it need to be bulletproof. This role owns all of it: the Kit (ConvertKit) setup, our sequences, segmentation, list health, basic QA, performance reporting. Note: You will NOT be responsible for creative, only managing the technical operation side of our email business.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Owning our Kit (ConvertKit) setup end-to-end: automations, sequences, segmentation, and tagging architecture.
- Owning deliverability: domain and sender reputation, authentication, list hygiene, sunsetting policies, and inbox placement monitoring.
- Building and QA’ing every send — templates, links, tracking, rendering, and merge fields — so nothing broken reaches a million inboxes.
- Designing and maintaining the segmentation and personalization systems that let us send the right content and offers to the right subscribers.
- Architecting our email infrastructure to scale across multiple brands and lists as the network grows.
- Running A/B tests on subject lines, send times, formats, and flows — and turning the results into standing playbooks.
- Managing integrations between Kit and the rest of our stack: website, funnels, analytics, and automation tools.
- Managing and monitoring our email growth channels — paid media, website opt-ins, Creator Network, Sparkloop, etc.
- Maintaining dashboards, databases, and operational tracking systems.
- Reporting performance and insights directly to our Head of Growth.
WHO I’M LOOKING FOR
YOU MUST HAVE:
- 3–5 years of experience in email marketing operations managing large lists (hundreds of thousands of subscribers or more).
- Deep hands-on experience with Kit (ConvertKit) or a comparable ESP, including complex automation and segmentation architecture.
- Real deliverability fluency: SPF/DKIM/DMARC, sender reputation, list hygiene, and knowing what to do when inbox placement slips.
- Strong analytical instincts — you track the metrics that matter and know when the numbers are lying to you.
- Fanatical attention to detail — you’re the person who catches the broken link before it hits a million inboxes.
- A love of data — you can find the optimization opportunities hiding in it.
- Self-sufficient and high agency. Comfort working in a small, dynamic, fast-moving remote team.
- A sense of humor.
STRONGEST CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:
- Significant experience growing lists: acquisition funnels, lead magnets, referral programs, or paid list growth.
- Experience inside a creator business, newsletter operation, or media company.
- Strong Claude Code skills to build custom dashboards, workflows, reports and spreadsheets.
- Familiarity with the health/wellness and/or self-help markets.
- Based in the Los Angeles area.
